Description: A finely proportioned American late Victorian dressing table from the coordinated bedroom suite offered as Lots 78A-78E. The shaped white marble top follows the serpentine case, which contains a single bow-front dovetailed drawer fitted with floral-form brass pulls and a central keyhole. Ebonized surfaces are enriched with mother-of-pearl and possibly abalone shell accents, gilt scrolling foliage, delicate line borders, and polychrome decoration. Four cabriole legs are joined by curved side stretchers and a shaped medial stretcher centered by a pierced cartouche.

Condition: Retains an old ebonized and decorated surface with extensive scratches, abrasions, edge wear, craquelure, fading, scattered retouching, exposed wood, and losses to the painted and gilt ornament. Shell inlay exhibits scattered losses and irregularities. Drawer front has age-related cracks and surface separation, and the blue-painted interior has wear and staining. Marble has scratches, staining, discoloration, natural veining, and edge wear and a reapir at the back left. Brass hardware has tarnish and wear.
